This is a little painting I did this summer. It is 5.5x8" mixed media on paper (pen and ink and watercolour) done from photos of the beach in Witless Bay, NL.
Beautiful speckled trout caught in the wilds of Labrador, fried in an old iron frying pan, with potatoes cooking in a saucepan which had belonged to my mother in law. (The past revisited)
As childern in Newfoundland, we loved the smell of fresh baked bread, and rushed to be the first to get a hot slice smothered in eversweet margarine and molasses.
Abby, my brothers granddaughter is the child in this painting which I chose to use for my 2007 Christmas cards. Christmas through the eyes of a child to me is the essence of the Christmas Spirit.

Cheryl Hardy is a Fine Artist from Labrador West Canada. Her love of her craft comes though in her statement "Every day brings some new exciting experience or subject for me to paint.I see the beauty in everyday life, my home and community and love to paint it. While portraiture is one facet of art that I am still developing, I find the challenge very rewarding".
She is a long time member of the Labrador West Visual Arts Association. Her works can be seen in local art shows.
